2022 Prospect 150th Anniversary History Activities
District Council of Prospect was founded in 1872 and became a City in 1935

On 1 August 1872, the District Council of Prospect was carved out of Yatala South, so during 2022 we celebrated 150 years of our own local government authority in the Prospect area.

Throughout the year we looked back at the decades, marked the milestones, learnt interesting facts and heard from and about characters within our community who have helped shape the neighbourhoods and suburbs we know and love today.

The book by Max Lamshed “Prospect 1872 -1972 A portrait of a city” is being followed by a new history to record  City of Prospect sesquicentenary (150 years) in 2022 highlighting  the years 1972 to 2022.

Prospect Local History Group received grants from City of Prospect to  assist with research.

At this stage, publication of the book is not proceeding due to financial issues.
