The Prospect Tram Barn, built in 1883, functioned in that capacity until around 1910. After serving a variety of purposes it became part of the Prospect Council depot in 1927 and was so utilised until 2018.
In 2017, the Prospect Council resolved to sell the depot site and Tram Barn in order to help fund construction of a new Civic Centre and public library on Prospect Road.
